Three Biblical Reasons Christians Should Support Israel

Christians can find several biblical reasons to support Israel within the pages of Scripture. Firstly, the covenant God made with Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 establishes a foundational promise that includes blessings for those who support Israel. God’s promise to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob is seen as eternal, signifying that supporting Israel aligns with God’s ancient covenants.

Furthermore, in Genesis 17:7-8, God promises to establish Israel as an everlasting possession, reinforcing the belief that the land belongs to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that we as Christians worship today.

Second, many Christians see the modern state of Israel as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Prophecies in books such as Ezekiel and Isaiah speak of the regathering of the Jewish people to their homeland.

Ezekiel 37 describes the vision of the Valley of Dry Bones. This is often interpreted as a prophecy about the revival of Israel. This interpretation is further supported by Isaiah 66:8, which speaks of a nation being born in a day, something many Christians believe was realized with the establishment of Israel in 1948.

Therefore, your support for Israel can be seen as a form of active participation in God’s prophetic plan.

Lastly, the Christian faith is deeply intertwined with Jewish history and the land of Israel.

Jesus Christ was born, lived, and ministered in Israel. Supporting Israel is seen as honoring the historical and spiritual heritage of Christianity. Psalm 122:6 calls believers to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, indicating a biblical mandate to support and seek the well-being of Israel and its people.
